Vikas Gowda of Karnataka won gold medal in men's athletics

Vikas Gowda of Karnataka on 31 July 2014 won a gold medal in discus throw in Men's Track events at 2014 Common Wealth Games at Glascow, Scotland.

With this Gowda became the first person to win a gold medal for India in 56 years in Men's Athletics after Milkha Singh. He won Gold medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games by throwing discus at a distance of 63.64 meters while his best was 66.90 meters.

Milkha Singh was the only man to win a gold medal for India in 1958 in Commonwealth Games in track events prior to this tournament.
