Union Cabinet approved 4 highway projects in J&K to provide all-weather connectivity

The Union Cabinet on 13 August 2014 approved four highway projects in Jammu and Kashmir for all-weather connectivity in the Valley. Apart from this, the Cabinet also enhanced the fund allocation by over 8000 crore rupees to around 28324 crore rupees under the National Highways Development Project of Jammu and Kashmir.

The four highway projects of Jammu and Kashmir are 

• Srinagar-Banihal
• Qazigund-Banihal
• Chenani-Nashri
• Jammu-Udhampur

The highway project would help in reducing journey time from Jammu to Srinagar and strategic border areas of the state. Apart from this, these highways would help in boosting the economy and employment to the locals in the state.
