Famed sand sculptor Sudarshan Pattnaik and his American teammate Mathew Roy Dieberthas have been declared winner in the double category at the just concluded World Cup of Sand Sculpting 2014.
Pattnaik and Dieberthas were declared winner in the doubles category for their sand sculpture of “Taj Mahal — Picture of Love” at the first-ver world cup of sand sculpting held in the Atlantic City.
The duo worked in the double’s category creating a sand sculpture of “Taj Mahal with Sah Jahan & Mumtaj.”
Twenty World renowned sand artists participated in this world cup.
Pattnaik, 37, also won a prize in solo category which was People’s choice prize for creating sand sculpture of Save tree, Save Future.
The top prize of USD 7,000 was won by Canadian sculptors.
This year Sudarsan was awarded Padmashri for sand art. He has participated in more than 50 International championships and festivals around the World any won many prizes for India.
He is also known for creating sand sculptures on current issues and social awareness.
