State Government of Delhi on 14 July 2014 decided to set up 320 Mahila Suraksha Dals (MSDs) across the national capital. These MSDs will be established to ensure women safety at public places.
According to the plan, the MSDs will be made functional in the 80 Gender Resource Centers. As a pilot programme, one MSD will be created in all 11 Districts of the city on the day of Raksha Bandhan.

About Mahila Suraksha Dals (MSDs)
The Mahila Suraksha Dals (MSDs) will comprise of retired army personnel, representatives from the local community (both men and women) and local NGO representatives. Each team will consist of 20 community members and three ex- servicemen.
The initiative MSDs will work at the grass-root level and will address the issues of women safety at public place. It will also support women in distress including situations of sexual harassment, assault and rape.
For creation of the MSDs, the former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal constituted a committee headed by the Director General of Home Guards and the Director of Women and Child development. The committee was supposed to submit a detailed report on the structure of the MSD by 15 February 2014.
Earlier, Delhi Government, to address women safety issues, had created new parallel structures, Awaaz Uthao Project.
