Indian-origin judge V K Rajah on 25 June 2014 was appointed as 8th Attorney-General of Singapore. President of Singapore Tony Tan Keng Yam presided at the swearing-in of Justice V K Rajah.
He will succeed Steven Chong. Steven Chong will return to the Supreme Court.
VK Rajah was also appointed as a member of the Presidential Council for Minority Rights for a three-year term. 17-member council reports on matters, including Bills or other legislation.
About Justice V K Rajah
Justice Rajah is graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1982, and worked for law firm Rajah & Tann.
In 1997, he was appointed a Senior Counsel and in 2007, he was appointed a Judge of Appeal.

He has been the Chairman of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education as well as the Board of Judicial Learning since 2010.
In 2012, he chaired the Fourth Committee on the Supply of Lawyers.
